•                               Look At What We Are Learning In Room 7!

Reading: We are continuing to work on long and short vowel sounds, blends and digraphs, and decoding new words using our reading strategies and hunks and chunks. I will be sending home your child's Reading Short Cycle Assessment next week. We completed the Reading SCA #3 before spring break. Please continue to read DAILY with your child, so they are reading on Level I or higher by the end of May. The more your child reads....the better reader he/she will be!

Writing: We are continuing to work on writing a complete sentence using correct capitalization, punctuation, and spacing. In Writer's Workshop, we are working on writing a friendly letter and "How To......" stories.

Math: We are beginning our last math unit and learning about fractions, number-grid patterns, problem solving, and symmetry. We will be starting our
weekly 2-minute subtraction time tests after spring break. The goal is to complete 25 math facts in 2-minutes. Please check out the website www.mathfactscafe.com for additional practice.

Health: We will be learning about taking good care of our bodies, exercising,
and eating healthy. We will be completing some new health lessons in our
Health Book during the last quarter of school.

Social Studies/Science: We will be learning about community helpers and doing some map activities fourth quarter. The children will also be participating in some hands-on science activities.
